Owners Comments
Platypus is a fine example of the very popular LM 27 motorsailer. Probably one of the roomiest most comfortable boats under 30 ft on the water. I’ve owned her for 10 years now. Originally buying her specifically for a single handed circumnavigation of the British Isles. She was the perfect choice. Performing well without a glitch all the way round. She sails remarkably well and the larger 3 cyld DV 36hp Buhk engine fitted means, if necessary, she will keep punching against a tide when others slow down. Such a good boat but living around 100 miles from the coast I have decided to replace her with a boat suitable for exploring the inland waterways. Platypus has been regularly maintained and is in excellent condition. Apart from usual maintenance I have carried out the following replacements/improvements whilst owning her: Hood replaced and extra stainless steel support hoop fitted to prevent hood sagging. Mainsail, cutlass bearing, propeller, rope cutter, seawater valves, vhf radio, carpets all replaced. Diesel hot air heater and hob with grill installed. If you’re looking for a good, well maintained genuine example of an LM 27 you won’t be disappointed.
